I am currently Assistant Professor in the Humanities at the University College Groningen, a constituent faculty of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Before my current appointment I experienced moderate success as a freelance journalist, and found myself published in all kinds of interesting places.
I completed my Ph.D. in art history & philosophy at the University of Sydney, Australia, in 2014, under the supervision of Dr Richard Smith and Associate Professor David Macarthur. Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of my education, my work sits in the rather fun intersection of aesthetics and the philosophy of technology.
Depending on how I am feeling, I market myself as either a philosopher or an intellectual historian. Other people, meanwhile, have described me as “an unrepentant nonsense peddler”, “virtuous but inconsistent”, and like “the nonchalant enjoyment of cheesecake in the nude.”
